Metodi didattici

Lezioni frontali, clinical teaching, problem-based learning.

Course objectives

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
The course aims to impart in-depth knowledge of oral and maxillofacial surgery, specifically the diagnosis and therapeutic-surgical process of traumatic, malformed, and oncological pathologies in the head and neck area.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
At the end of the course, the student must be able to manage simple clinical cases of cardiovascular disease, starting with the patient's physical examination, up to diagnosis and treatment (medical, interventional, or surgical); integrate anamnestic data with clinical signs to formulate a diagnostic suspicion; interpret the results of laboratory and imaging tests in the context of the clinical picture; apply evidence-based guidelines for planning appropriate therapeutic pathways.
MAKING JUDGMENTS
At the end of the course, the student must be able to critically evaluate the relevance and accuracy of the clinical data collected; analyze the ethical and legal implications associated with clinical decisions and informed consent; and critically interpret the scientific literature to update medical practice.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
At the end of the course, the student must be able to communicate complex clinical information to the patient in a clear, empathetic, and understandable manner; prepare concise and rigorous medical records, reports, and medical reports; and present clinical cases and scientific findings to specialist and non-specialist interlocutors.
LEARNING SKILLS
At the end of the course, the student must be able to use bibliographic databases to solve emerging clinical questions; develop an autonomous study method for constant professional development

Prerequisites

During of his previous training, it is essential that the student has already acquired the basics of surgical semeiotics as well as the theoretical notions of the cranio-maxillofacial surgical pathology

Teaching methods

Lectures, clinical teaching, problem-based learning. During clinical teaching, students will be presented with clinical cases that will be conducted interactively and under the supervision and guidance of the instructor. On these occasions, the various phases of management in clinical practice, from diagnosis to therapy. Attendance at lessons and practical exercises is mandatory and will be recorded via the app. Student must have at least 75% attendance to access the profit exam

Assessment methods

During the final oral exam, the candidate's knowledge of head and neck anatomy, their ability to diagnose pathologies, and any instrumental tests to use will be assessed. Ductility in the therapeutic approach will also be assessed based on the patient's clinical condition. The final grade, expressed in 30/30 (18/30 represents the minimum and 30/30 the maximum), is the average of the grades obtained in the exams of the Integrated Course modules
